  • In many ways your brain is like a muscle. What we call habits are actually neural pathways that have been created from doing something over and over. Repetition of thoughts draw these neural synapses closer to each other over time.
a study done at Harvard University found that after 8 weeks of practicing Mindful meditation, subjects increased the actual brain density and thickness of their hippocampus. This is the section of the brain responsible for learning new things, regulating memory, spatial navigation and long term memory storage.
Being around negative, toxic people has a profound effect on your brain as well.

  • Meal Prepping your lunches and dinners is hard enough....Mornings are especially tough to meal prep something that won’t fall apart on your morning commute.
Most people just don’t have the time and patience to fully optimize their nutrition in the mornings and most things that can be eaten “on the go” don’t properly fuel your body and mind.
These Quiches are a perfect solution to make sure you’re eating better then 99% of other people.
Unless you can afford a professional cook or dietitian the easiest way to be healthy is just to consume Different colors. Different textures. Different types of veggies from different parts of the world.
Variety is a powerful tool to ensure your fueling your body properly.
Grab a carton of quality eggs and grab whatever vegetables that look the freshest. Add to a basic pie crust (gluten free if you have a gluten Allergy) Grate some good cheese and add to the top. Bake for an hour. Done.
The trick is to avoid the traditional quiche that looks all egg and all cheese. Your Quiche needs to be more veggie then Egg.
This is about jamming each slice with an obscene amount of high density nutrients.
Pro tip: whatever Veggie concoction I end up with I almost always add Broccoli, Sweet Potato and Garlic!
Broccoli contains a compound called Sulforaphane that - among other things - has been shown to inhibit cancer cells. (Link to study at bottom)
Sweet potatoes have tons of benefits and are an excellent carb source to combine with protein.
Bake Time: 60 min
Temperature: 375 Degrees#

  • Most of the data collected concerning long term sauna use in Humans was done in Finland. Beginning in 1984 and finally being published in 2015, researchers studied the lives and habits of over 2,000 men of various ages over a 20 year time span.
Surprisingly, the study found that those who frequented the sauna had a lower risk of coronary heart disease and fatal cardiovascular disease overall. More surprisingly, the study associated sauna use with lower all-cause mortality.
Like it sounds; “all-cause mortality” refers to an early death from ANY cause. Taking a deeper look into the 20 year long accumulation of data, the study appeared to suggest that how many visits to the sauna mattered as well.
The participants that visited the sauna 2 to 3 times per week were associated with a 24 percent lower risk of all-cause mortality while the participants that visited 4 to 7 times per week were associated with an astounding 40 percent! • After a kill, animals almost always go straight for the liver, kidneys and other organs; Ignoring the muscle tissue.
Animals intuitively know that the organs are nutrient dense powerhouses that have higher amounts of bioavailable protein, thiamine, folate, selenium, phosphorus, zinc, CoQ10 and B vitamins then your regular cuts of meat.
Liver specifically is one of the most nutritionally dense foods on the planet. As it is packed with iron, choline, copper, folic acid and B vitamins the taste is slighter metallic and bitter to most people's pallets. Try mixing it with regular ground beef to offset the taste.
I picked this up from @carmanranch a while back and couldn't be happier. Taste was great and it's not expensive due to the fact that most people in the West just aren't wise to the fact that organ meat is the way to go.
Pro-Tip: Liver can retain toxins from drugs and other chemicals they pump into factory farm meat. Always buy grass-fed meat without added antibiotics or hormones. If possible, eat local! Local Farmers markets are excellent places to meet your local ranchers and purchase fresh meats.

  • THE BEST GEAR FOR FALL: THE DAKOTA MILITARY STYLE DUFFLE SEA BAG
If you could just take one bag to travel the world, the Dakota Military Style Duffle Sea Bag/Canvas backpack might be the one you would take. Made by the Buffalo Jackson Trading Company, this bag offers elite functionality with durability.
Crafted out of waxed canvas and tanned leather this is a solid bag that can withstand any kind of rugged adventure you throw at it. I recently went on a road trip that involved camping and light back packing. Weighing in at about 5 Lbs, it is light enough to comfortably do some light hiking and durable enough to throw next to the camp fire after a long day.
We love what these guys are doing. Men's fashion especially has become feminized and androgynous in recent years. These guys make rugged and functional gear that's not afraid to embrace an aesthetic that has been weeded out of most cookie cutter clothing brands.

  • A new study spanning over 7 years and following 135,000 people from 18 countries is suggesting that low-fat diets are far more harmful then previously thought.
Most major health organizations have been saying for decades to eat more whole grains and limit your fat intake. The idea is that a diet rich in things like butter, beef and eggs is directly linked to obesity, heart disease, stroke and shorter lifespans.
Two new studies published in The Lancet, led by researchers at the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI) of McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences is seemingly confirming that a low fat diet actually increases chances of disease and lowers your lifespan.
The study from the Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) followed more than 135,000 people from 18 different countries. They followed low-income, middle-income and high-income regions and studied the diet of the participants for 7 and a half years.
Specifically they wanted to compare the health outcomes of people whose diets derived energy from eating animal fats, butter, avocado, etc to more recent and traditional carbohydrate based sources like breads, corn, pasta etc.
Surprisingly they found that fatal cardiovascular disease, stroke, and heart failure were all decreased measurably in those that enjoyed a diet higher in fat. The research and data on dietary fats found that they are not associated with major cardiovascular disease. In fact - higher fat consumption was associated with lower over all mortality. This was observed for all major types of fats (saturated fats, polyunsaturated fats and mono unsaturated fats)
There's no “perfect” diet that will fit every human's genetics. There is simply too many variables like blood type, ancestry, food allergies but clearly eating healthy fats are much healthier then what a lot of health professionals have been saying for decades. Grill up that steak!

  • Turmeric gets its distinct orange and yellowish color from the compound Curcumin. This is what offers the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antifungal, and antibacterial effects that turmeric is famous for.
Curcumn is a powerful anti-inflammatory and a powerful antioxidant but unfortunately is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream and most of the curcumin ingested gets metabolized before it can even get absorbed by your body.
A clinical trail done at the Department of Pharmacology, St. John's Medical College in Bangalore, India has determined that adding black pepper to curcumn increases the bioavailability by 2000%
The study concluded that the compound found in black pepper known as piperine enhanced the turmeric's concentration, extent of absorption, and bioavailability of curcumin in both rats and humans by 2000%. So, if your on the market for a turmeric supplement or are just cooking your favorite curry dish – Add some black pepper. In fact, many of the best turmeric supplements on the market have started to incorporate black pepper to their formula. Just check the back of the packaging and it will tell you. Make sure it says “black pepper extract” or “piperine” Don't let that Curcumn go to waste!

  • Tabata training is simple. Brutally simple.
20 seconds of performing one specific exercise.
10 seconds of rest.
Complete 8 rounds.
20 seconds on. 10 seconds off. Repeat.
Tabata training was discovered by a Japanese scientist named Dr. Izumi Tabata. Leading a team of researchers from the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo; Dr Tabata set out to determine the most efficient method to build both aerobic (cardio) and anaerobic (muscle mass) systems in active athletes.
Dr. Tabata and his team conducted research on two groups of athletes. The first group trained at a moderate intensity level for one hour, five days a week – for six weeks.
The second group also worked out five days a week BUT instead of working for one hour- each workout lasted ONLY four minutes. That is the 20 seconds of exercise. 10 seconds of rest and so forth
After six weeks group 1 had increased their cardio significantly but showed little muscle mass.
Group 2 showed much more increase in their cardio than Group 1, AND increased their anaerobic muscle mass by 28 percent.
high-intensity interval training has more impact on both the aerobic and anaerobic systems. A LOT more actually. It boosted the athletes Cardio and Muscle mass in that 4 minutes then an entire hour of moderate exercise. High level athletes have been incorporating Tabata ever since in their training regimens.
So why don’t you see more people at the gym doing Tabata? Its very very difficult. Humans gravitate towards the easy path. No one wants to be seen shaking and quivering to complete one last body weight air squat. Most guys don't want to be seen doing “girl push-ups” with their legs resting on the floor while they kill themselves to complete the last couple rounds of Tabata Push-ups.
Tabata is Brutal. But the results are incredible. If it were easy then everyone would do it. If you can put your ego aside attempt to complete the 8 rounds you will push your body to elevated levels of fitness.
